I'm with your mindset, hon, and to me it still falls under that old not so common courtesy umbrella, even with dealing with TPTB -- you know, give credit where credit is due, at least give some nod to the fact that not all our concerns with the twists and turns of the legal, moral, and ethical corners of what we're doing have been swept free of cobwebs. Kind of a way to say to those within The Powers that care about such things, "hey, you know, we're really not trying to screw you or your bottom line over, and we actually are willing to take responsibility for our actions, you know, to a point."
My own feel about content on the web being inappropriate for kids has always been pretty steady. It's not my job to babysit someone else's overly curious children. I don't intend to put gloriously graphic gay cum-shots on my main page, and most of my stuff is pretty clearly marked, not suitable for children, (and possibly not suitable for some adults). But if parents aren't exercising *some* control over their kids, I'm pretty resistant to doing their job for them. (Which isn't necessarily wise from a legal standpoint, but I have dreams sometimes of standing before congress to absolutely take adults to task for not being, well adults.)
So yeah. I'm more worried about people understanding what it is they are getting into than I am about whether they are old enough to get into it in the first place. But if they tell me they are 14....

Gah.
