This whole thing sounds like a slippery slope that I really hope fandom avoids. (though won't lie it's tempting)

but I think for me I felt alarmed at the idea of having to pay to join communities. It's bad enough with people flocking their journals so you can't even read their stories but this just doesn't sit right with me.
