It is entirely possible to respect a person's right to their opinion and not respect a particular opinion. It's also possible to disagree with another person's opinion and still respect the person.

It is nearly impossible to respect a person whose opinion includes the view that anyone who disagrees with their opinion deserves no respect, and furthermore, because their views differ, are morally bankrupt, ethically void, and possibly the root of all evil.

And seriously? People who write (or read) incest are no more likely to be advocating for it in real life than people who write (or read) h/c kidfic are advocating for child abuse.

If you had, she only would have deleted you. Apparently, they were disappearing mysteriously before she disabled comments. (you being generic in this case)

Yeah, I saw that. I don't actually disagree with an individual blogger/journaler deleting trolling or outright attacks, but disagreement is not automatically either of those things.

I think it bugs me more because my prior impression of her was not that she's an idiot. This, however, has vastly altered my opinion of pretty much everything she says or writes and not for the better.

But I'm not nor ever was on her friends list, and I've no doubt she's perfectly happy having me far, far away, lest I persuade her to the dark side.

Exactly. She was cutting off even the possibility of discussion by doing so. Then again, she probably didn't want anyone that actually read the offensive material dirtying her journal.

I've never even heard of her before, but her post left dirty taste in my mouth and certainly doesn't make me want to seek out other posts of hers.
