Preview thoughts -- spoilers & speculations

I'm serious. If you don't want to chance being spoiled by either speculation or comments, please stay out of this conversation.

Previews: Just quick thoughts: Much of the running and blood spatters looked awfully dream-like. I.e. my impression is that this is something Sam sees or is shown, when he gets and offer from someone on how to fix this. I'd love for it to be Lilith. The echoes of Dean dying in Sam's arms during Mystery Spot are pretty close, and it is unlike them to show in previews things arranged in such a way as to actually reveal the plot line.

It would be awesome, awesome if it were...

I think it would totally make sense for Lillith to tempt Sam with a vision of how to save Dean. If S2 was The Decline and Fall of Dean Winchester, S3 has been The Last Temptation of Sammy.

That's kind of what I thought, too. Because obviously Sam is not going to be in a happy dreams state of mind. On the other hand, we could be in for a nasty cliff-hanger. Urghh. There go the fingernails.

Put the comment back Riverbella. I was pretty clear this was all about spoiler s and previews

Now *I* want to know what you said. And the whole post is spoilery anyway...which was the point, and why we're discussing the whole thing under a cut...

That Sam's powers were supposed to come back full force before season end.

I am sincerely hoping so.

I really am hoping he loses his mind (temporarily) and saves Dean that way. Doesn't require darksidedness, just 'Hey, I am SO MUCH bigger than all you silly demons!!1!!1' He did move furniture at the very thought of losing his brother before, so...

He also rips his shirt off, in the process, btw. As in, grabs the front of his T in both hands and just shreds it off, a'la professional wrestler.

and after he rips off his shirt, he strides manfully into the parking lot and tips some cars.

oh wait, that's supposed be us doing the tipping. in sheer joy at his manly chest.

Put the comment back, Jellicle. I was pretty clear this was all about spoilers and previews and I think it's worth discussing (I'd heard that too -- that Sam's powers were supposed to come back.)

I get that you didn't understand that when I say spoilers, I mean spoilers. I am not at all averse to them in any context. and while you may not have known it (even though I'm pretty sure you've commented here before) I have no restraint at all about discussing any and all spoilers in my ep posts and comments and most people who do comment here realize it.

I quite honestly don't know how I could make it any clearer than I have by a) moving the preview and spoiler discussion off the ep discussion and b) cut tagging it to say "don't click if you don't want spoilers" since I'm pretty much not clairvoyant and have no idea what exact conversations or information people are bringing to the table.

I don't necessarily want you to withdraw, I just wish you'd been a little more cognizant of the kind of discussions that go on in my journal and which have been going on for the last couple of years.

I go out of my way not to spoil people who don't want to be, and God know I warn for everything under the sun, so I admit I'm a little resentful of the implication that I didn't warn you enough that there would be spoilers in this discussion.

Stay or go, it's your choice; I think you often have interesting points and contributions, but yeah...Here Be Spoilers. Caveat Lector.

Cat, this post specifically says spoilers and previews. I am all for spoilers. I am very conscientious about cut tagging my posts to keep people who don't want to know things from finding things out accidentally, but in a post thats specifically for this kind of discussion, you need to either be prepared to be spoiled or gracefully back out of the conversation.

I AGREE WITH YOU.

I got the clear impression that it is Sam, or possibly Dean, dreaming. THEN AGAIN.... remember when Sam died last year.

However, If I'd had the Colt last night? I'd have totally shot the television set after that g.d. preview. KRIPKE IS A SADIST. WTF.

[identity profile] gekizetsu.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that you mention it, it makes sense. And I'd love for it to be Lilith, too. I would think she'd want to make some kind of deal with Sam, maybe not even for his own soul, but something more in what she'd want from him.

[identity profile] gelasius.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Either that or... Sam. Vision. Pretty Please? ::crosses fingers hard::

So yeah, let me try it again.

If I remember correctly,Jared mentioned in a con that by the end of the season Sam's powers would be back full force. Now, it hasn't happened yet. I wonder if the preview is Sam's vision (much like in Nightmare's preview in season 1 when they showed Dean being shot).

Also, I wonder if Sam's powers could be key to get Dean out of his deal.

[identity profile] elusive-life-77.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok. I just went and watched the promo on youtube and there is a 'going in' to Dean's eye thingy (sorry I have no idea what you would call that) then the grainy vision-view starts. I don't know what that means exactly but it doesn't seem to be Sammy thats having the vision, looks like something Dean is seeing to me.

Also, this is going back a week to the promo to long distance caller but am I the only one who noticed that they used a clip from ahbl2 of john? That just bugs the shit out of me that they did that. ((Its at the 7sec mark of the vid. if your curious))

If it is a dream I bet Kripke won't let us know for sure until next season. He has promised in multiple media (interviews and conventions) that season 3 will have a doozey of a cliff hanger one that will make fans scream all summer. I just hope we don't end up with Bobby in the Shower. But its pretty clear Kripke is having a good old time teasing the fans based on his last E interview.

My personal theory about Mary and maybe even John is that they are descended from Grigori (a type of fallen angel that fell due to their lust for human women), possibly since Azazel(YED) is interested in Sam so much, from Azazel himself. There is actually a very good Meta written on this topic by [livejournal.com profile] furor_scribiend. I agree with most of it, the one point I disagree with is the reason that Dean has not manifested powers. The author suggests that Dean has not manifested the ability because it may be a recessive gene, and where I think it is a pretty good theory, I myself believe it is because Dean was born 4 years to soon. The Demon is on a 22 year cycle with his blood baptism of the special children. I think this relates to sunspot activity which results in more radiation reaching earth, radiation that in big doses normally not seen can adversely impact human physiology, but in this case with a child of the right age, genetic background and a baptism/feeding of fallen angel's blood may instead change the physiology until the powers are triggered during the next sunspot cycle. I think that the radiation of the Sun Spot represents an aspect of the power of the divine, or at least an exposure to a catalyst not of this world, though I still lean to the divine as I think it probably takes more to grant a physical form powers than perhaps a soul.

I suspect that if we make it to season 5 Dean's powers might also be woken, either by a visit to the fires, by Sammy or by a divine power, after all Kripke did promise us a new scary never before seen creature/player in the game - why not something scary to humans on the side of the good guys. Hmmm that reminds me of a story I read by Andrew Offutt which posutlated that pure good was a dangerous to humans as pure evil because we were a gray race that could not survive the purity of the light.

I have more theories but now its past time for bed.

Goodnight
Zaz
