Ha! You sneaky sneak...seeing the addendum for the first time is a lovely treat. I think I like it most not just for the added slash (which is always of the good) but also for the extra reassurance we get from seeing one last time into Dean's mind.
This story -both versions of it- is especially well-done because it all feels so real. The ambivalence and doubt are there, as they are in all of our lives. But Dean's a grown man now, and knows that they don't just go away, but instead are just overshadowed and defeated by the things he really is sure of...his friends and family, and most of all, Sam.
(One tiny typo 7 lines up from the end...it says "...where he walls were the sturdiest" and I think you meant "...the walls..."
