No Stairway Anthology submission reminder
Mar. 30th, 2008 10:38 amJust a reminder that tomorrow is the last day for No Stairway Anthology submissions. Anyone submitting work after tomorrow will be asked to resubmit during the next period. Submissions can be sent to admin @ nostairway.org or admin.nostairway @ gmail.com (they both end up in the same place; in my eager little hands.)
We accept previously published or posted work and new works of between approximately 1000 and 10,000 words. The submission guidelines can be found here: http://nostairway.org/subs.html and other information about the submission and selection processes can be found at http://nostairway.org or at http://community.livejournal.com/nostairway/.
The initial anthology is targeted at 10 works, but anything accepted will be rolled over into the second volume (or third).
If you have works of less than the 1000 words or works over the 10K limit, drop us a line anyway. We aren't going to ask you to add or subtract a hundred words to fit the guidelines. And if it's significantly over or under those limits, contact us anyway. We've got plans for both an edition of ficlets and one for novellas and novels.
So, if you're curious at all and have questions, ask them. If you are thinking you might like to submit but haven't decided, let me assure you that if you do, you'll be in good company.

No Stairway is part e-zine, part recommended reading list, and part archive. Like a 'zine (online or off), we have editorial styles and standards that we use to guide our selections, as well as our own individual and collective tastes and preferences. We are like a rec list that's a little bit more involved than providing a link and pointing the reader to an author's LJ or website. Since the authors here can opt-in and display their works in the house style, formatted for consistency across the Anthology, we also serve as an archive.
Information about the Anthology can be found at nostairway.org, including the Overview of the project, Submission Guidelines, Templates, the General and RPF FAQs, as well as the editorial and selection processes.
The administrative and editorial staff can be found on the profile page of the
nostairway livejournal community and any questions you have may be left on the open post there or directed to us at admin @ nostairway.org.
If you've got questions -- I'm going to point you back to the comm, [[here]]

Wait. What? That's not what I heard...
Jan. 27th, 2008 10:27 amThe No Stairway Anthology
To be upfront and honest, we're not quite ready for the reveal. Neither the comm nor the website are entirely ready, not all the process and procedures have been honed or tested, and our proposed staff have neither been allowed to review the project nor opted in on any level.
However, I seem to be doing a poor job of defining just what this project is and what it intends -- mostly because we've been using the procedure process to help refine our scope and better define our mission and goals -- but I did hear what people were saying and we did make note of their concerns. We can't guarantee this will satisfy everybody, but we do hope it at least gives people a place to start assessing what we plan on doing instead of what they think we are doing -- or even why.
People form opinions and take positions that are entirely valid to them -- and the information in the link below may change no one's mind, and it is as likely as not to generate more questions and possibly more concerns. Fair enough. But I'm sincerely hoping that at least some information -- as opposed to speculation -- might at least give the project a chance.
So, please go here: http://community.livejournal.com/nostairway/
at least this way, if you still think it's a bad idea, at least it will be the right bad idea.
*and for anyone keeping track, the "Anthology" part of the idea jumped in and wrestled us all to the ground around midnight Friday. *g*
