This is wonderfully, exquisitely descriptive of all three players in this scenario. I love that after describing (Dean reminiscing!) all aspects of Sam, you showed us his two major strengths. I always feel a little in awe of determined, courageous Sam, and love then how completely he surrenders to his big brother, 'cos Dean so needs to be that person.
Dean's voice was humourous and impatient, and so true to Dean. Rescued, then assuming control of the reigns again. Did I mention already how interesting this dynamic between them is?
And the Cross-roads demon flailing on the ground! Surrounded by her pooches! Great image.
Am in awe of your writing skill. Opening with: "God and all his angels" then, ending with "Doesn't matter if you believe in fairies." This constant tension for Dean seems to be canon, as well.
"erudite" and "incipient" - love your word choices! My vocab is being improved, and I like *need* this! :D
