It is entirely possible to respect a person's right to their opinion and not respect a particular opinion. It's also possible to disagree with another person's opinion and still respect the person.

It is nearly impossible to respect a person whose opinion includes the view that anyone who disagrees with their opinion deserves no respect, and furthermore, because their views differ, are morally bankrupt, ethically void, and possibly the root of all evil.

And seriously? People who write (or read) incest are no more likely to be advocating for it in real life than people who write (or read) h/c kidfic are advocating for child abuse.

Do I even want to know why you needed to say this? Because seriously, seriously, what the actual fuck?

I feel like such an old fandom hag. I hate this crap.

If you haven't caught it by now, don't bother. A fandom comment triggered it, but it's actually been simmering for awhile for me. This is a hundred times less snarky than the first few drafts I went through.

How are you doing, doll? (besides being insanely busy.)

Whatever you're upset about, Maygra, I support you. I agree that fic has nothing to do with what one wants to have happen in rl.

Eh, more cranky and feeling my age *g*. I appreciate the support. Just that some people need to get a better grip on the reins of those high horses they're riding.

I'm advocating incest! I think about it constantly! As a matter of fact, I'm hoping it'll happen right in my living room. RIGHT NOW. But: only if they're two really hot guys and one is named Dean and the other is named Sam.

Anyone who writes Wincest and/or RPF should be burned at the stake. Or, have to eat a burned steak...I can't remember how it goes. It's dirtybadwrong.

HI MAYGRA!! omgilu.

You are such and advocate, you are!

It's eat burned steak - trust me. Sam's cooking.

Did you get your yak?

(I love you MORE, because I am reading Endleofan again and it makes me so damn happy.

(Also, I am write Sam in the mall with all three girls when Leigh is a baby, and he can't figure out why the women are all staring at him.

I have no idea what is going on, and I'm sensing that's probably for the best. Hiatus is such a wank-fest in fandom.

Is it bad that fandom has had this argument so often that I'm BORED with it? *sigh*

I suppose I don't want to know who is riding the high horse and where it is being ridden. I assume it has to do with "Supernatural" incest.

At any rate, you are one of the sanest folks I know through the intraweb and having met you in person, still have that opinion. Anyone who provokes your ire probably deserves it, but you don't deserve to be upset by their prejudices. Just saying. You're one of fandom's treasures.

{{{hugs}}} again.

P.S. Do you maybe want my son? I sell him, cheep, velly cheep. 5 dollah, no dickerin' Den you get t' agonize not me. Hmmm?

If you don't know, don't bother to look -- it's mostly "I don't like that, therefore, it is wrong and you are a bad person for liking it." Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

It's a big nothing, just about the third conversation I've tripped over this week where differing opinions are considered the equivalent of drawing a line in the sand. But I'm apparently in the mood to be annoyed at not much at all tonight. *g* I'm completely blaming it on the fact that my blood sugar is all out of whack.

I think if we were actually having a discussion, I'd be less annoyed, but we're not. What we've got is proclamations on the One True Way, and those always make me want to shove people into ditches.

Preferably ditches filled with fresh horse manure.

From all those high horses.

Maygra! We are Roots of Evil! (Rutabaga or carrot?) I feel old. No one seems to be able to separate fiction from reality or understand what plaugerism is anymore. *whacks young whippersnappers with cane*

Couldn't tell you. I tend to avoid f_w whenever possible, although this one is such old news and been there, got the t-shirt if they mention it, it must be slow week in wank-land.

You forgot serial killers. I'm also a big fan of the apocalypse. BRING IT ON!!

also unicorns, faeiries, and a return to the golden and glorious era of piracy on the high seas. I think it has to do with the hats.

Well, you know I feel precisely the same way.

I'm all right. I've been busy, yes, and lots of family shit going on. But good. I'm starting to pull my head out of my ass again, finally. You, love?

You're in luck on that pirate thing....

I like Plot-Device Pirates, myself, like the ones in Hamlet. Everyone forgets that there are pirates in Hamlet. PIRATES!

Heh, no on the offer of a childer. I am ever so glad so many other people felt the urge. I have no desire whatsoever to pass on either my genes or my years of experience. I'm sure future generations will thank me for my sacrifice.

I appreciate the vote for sanity, although the fact that this got to me at all, means I probably need a glass of wine or something. Maybe with a nice ativan chaser.

I have actually had a relatively good couple of weeks. I have some health crap going on but nothing modern medical science, a little dietary adjustment, and the judicious application of pharmaceuticals won't fix. But we drove up to the mountains today to attend a wedding and it was gorgeous.

Restoreth my soul.
